Funny Kids

Just some more quotes from the kids... gotta love 'em!

Sept. 24, 2010

Daniel: do flies eat poop?
Me: yeah. Gross huh?
Daniel: are they healthy?
Me: umm, well. I think so. God made flies so that they could eat that sort of thing and it works for their bodies.
Daniel: umm, so, God made flies to look for food like poop

Jan. 15, 2011 (at Aunt Aurora's funeral)

Kelly: Katie, did you know Melissa is gonna be your aunt. Her and Robert are gonna get married and her babies will be your cousins.
Katie: (jaw drops) Umm. Uh oh. I guess I better remember her name.

Jan. 14, 2011... Tonight we had a farewell party at Mom and Dad's house for Chris. He's leaving for his mission this Wednesday! His whole family came and some family friends. They are so supportive of him. It makes me so happy. They aren't members of our same church, but they support him so much and are so happy for him. I'm so glad that they are happy that he will be sharing a message of Jesus Christ to the people of Washington and Oregon. They aren't the same religion, but we all worship Jesus as our Savior. I'm so happy we can all find our similarities.

After the party at Mom and Dad's, a bunch of us went to this place in Costa Mesa called Sky High. It's a warehouse filled with trampolines and a huge foam pit. I brought some of the kids and we had a blast. On the way home, Daniel fell asleep in the car... Daniel was snoring and Penelope said, "does he have a monster in his nose or what?!"

Love,
Lauren

Prime Cut Cafe

Tonight, Dad ordered a salad and sandwich and then Emily looked at me and said I've never heard grandpa order a salad before. Dad didn't hear her, but coincidentally, 2 minutes later, he switched his salad for a soup.

Aunt Aurora Black

Aunt Aurora is in the hospital. She has been for awhile now... a couple weeks in and out. Wow. She is an amazing woman. Today I "talked" to her on the phone. She isn't responding really except with grunts. But I heard a little laugh from her. She ALWAYS has a smile and a laugh in her. I love her so much. I hope she isn't in any pain. I miss her stories. I hope she will stay with us longer but I'm afraid she's fading away. I want to be there in Palm Desert at the hospital with her so badly. I'm going as soon as I can get a day off work. Aunt Aurora is beautiful and funny and happy and great! She will be greeted with a huge welcome into heaven. Please pray for her. Please pray for her peace, comfort, and happiness.

Discoving His World... or Gender

Sam just threw my stuff on the floor so I asked him to give it back. When he did, I said, "Thank you!" and he said "Welcome! Me a princess!" Oh by the way, he's wearing a headband in his hair.

Five minutes later I saw the dogs (Hansel and Lola) fighting and I said, "Hey crazy dogs!" and Sam responded, "What?"

Hahahaha!

Today we (Heidi, Kelly, Rich, Mom, Dad, Shawn, and me) went to the temple to do some baptisms for our ancestors, including Viki, Grandpa (Burge), and his brother Hague. It was a wonderful experience. I know that Grandpa has been waiting for a long time to have his work done for him. I was baptized for Viki and I hope she too is happy. I believe she is.

We went to eat all together after the temple. We went to Houstons and Dad spilled something on his shirt so Shawn showed him the button hole on the napkin for people to button the napkin to their shirt and wear it like a bib. So then this happened...

Dad: Well gosh, they never said anything. Why didn't anyone tell me?
Kelly: If you're so white trash that they have to tell you those things, then you shouldn't be eating at a restaurant like this.

We all started cracking up. We consider ourselves high class white trash... since we bowl and all :-)

Later, in the car on the way home, Kelly was talking about how the orthodontist is gonna take off Grace's braces and give her a retainer next time. She asked them if they were gonna give her the kind that is stuck in her mouth and they said no. Well, Kelly doesn't like the idea of that because Grace loses EVERYTHING. Anybody who knows Grace would not give her a retainer because they know she would lose it. So this is what went down...

Kelly: It's only gonna come out of her mouth once before she loses it.

Me: why can't they cement it in?

Kelly: they can for the bottom but not for the top.

Me: why not?

Kelly: they said it was child abuse. I told them to just child abuse her.

Me: why's it child abuse?

Kelly: I dunno. Its stupid... 'cause she wouldn't be able to eat or something. Who cares! Give it to her.

And then we laughed... and couldn't stop.

The Holy Ghost

The sister missionaries from the sign language branch came over to have dinner on Thursday night. After dinner they gave their spiritual message, which consisted of telling the story of Joseph Smith’s first vision in sign language. It was very, very touching and the spirit was strong. After the story we just sat in awe (Kelly, Mom, Dad, Me, Emily, Grace, Katie, Daniel, Sam, Ben). Sister Neager said “now what did you feel?” and right away Daniel rose his hand and without waiting to be called on said “The Holy Ghost…I feel the Holy Ghost”. It brought tears to both my and Kelly’s eyes.

The Start

Hi, it's me, Lauren Mugar. I started this blog for my family. We all have access to it so we can post funny, exciting, interesting, or necessary things for everyone else to see. The point is to share our stories in a safe spot so that we can all look back on them later and laugh and smile at the memories.

Have fun!
